A Caledon man has been handed a suspended prison sentence for wrongfully claiming in excess of £42,000 in benefits.
Patrick Flynn, of Ballyvaddy Road, was convicted at Newry Crown Court on Monday.
The court heard how the 33-year-old, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £42,917 while failing to declare he was living with a partner.
He was given an eight month prison sentence suspended for two years.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
