A group of teenage yobs wreaked havoc in the beautiful surroundings of Benburb Priory over the weekend.
A trial of destruction is what greeted the management team, who work diligently on the up-keep of the picturesque surroundings – on Sunday morning.
Highlighting the horror on social media, the The Benburb Priory management team, said: “It is with deep regret that we have to share these negative images of the anti-social behaviour from a group of young people aged between 10-16 years, which occurred over the weekend on the Priory grounds.
“Beautiful young saplings torn from their roots, benches overturned and posts uprooted.
“We wish to reiterate that the Priory is a private park owned by the Order of Mary Servite Trust which operates a goodwill open door policy, welcoming one and all to come along and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this lovely estate.
“We ask that this ethos be respected so we can continue to keep our grounds open for the public and community to enjoy.”
Residents have also complained at the volume of young people being taxied to the village in recent weekends, with rubbish strewn everywhere, and largely anti-social elements annoying people in and around the area.
Anti-social behaviour in rural areas has been a hot topic at recent police meetings across the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon District with a marked rise in incidents.
