This is the bogus message people are being left by scammers claiming to be from HMRC.
The fraudsters are targeting the elderly and more vulnerable members of the community; a con designed to frighten people in phoning a certain number.
The call claims legal action is being taken against the tax payer and they have just one final chance to rectify the situation.
This is what the message states: “The reason for this call is to inform you that there is a serious law suit filed against your name.
“The issue at hand is very time sensitive and the very second you receive this message I need to to return the call as soon as possible to my department. The number is 1412891002 I repeat, it’s 1412891002.
“If I don’t receive your call you will face hard and unwanted legal consequences. To avoid all legal consequences call me as soon as possible because this is your last chance for the resolvement (sic) for this serious case.
“Again, this message is for you and this is Officer Lisa ringing from HMRevenue and Customs. Good-bye and have a blessed day.”
However, HMRC have issued a response.
A spokesperson said: “There is currently a telephone scam where a recorded message is left, allegedly from HMRC, stating that HMRC are bringing a law suit against the individual and is going to sue them.
“The recipient is asked to phone and speak to the officer dealing with the case. This scam is becoming widely reported and seems to be targeting older people. Please do not reply to the message.
“HMRC takes security very seriously but you need to be alert. If you cannot verify the identity of the person making the call you should not disclose your personal details.
“You should report these incidents on the Action Fraud website, or you can call them on 0300 123 2040. Please note this number will be charged at your normal network rate.. They are open Monday to Friday 09:00 – 18:00.
