Wondering why St Patrick’s RC Cathedral in Armagh was lit up red last night?
Well, it was Red Wednesday – a night when churches and state buildings in Ireland and across the UK are lit up as part of a campaign to highlight religious intolerance.
Waterford, Sligo, Armagh and Derry cathedrals all took part in the #RedWednesday initiative as well as Knock Basilica.

In the UK, the Houses of Parliament and The Palace of Westminster are among dozens of public buildings were brightly illuminated.
The red is meant to help shine a light on the reality of Christian persecution across the world, and to highlight the injustices perpetrated against other minority and faith groups.
