‘The Epic Journey to the 148th Open 2019’, hosted by Tourism Northern Ireland, visited Shambles Yard in Armagh on Thursday to celebrate the buzz and civic pride in welcoming the return of the Championship to Northern Ireland for the first time in almost 70 years this July.
The Armagh community including schools, golf clubs, tourism industry representatives and sports stars, such as local sporting legend Caroline O’Hanlon, GAA star Rebecca O’Reilly and Ireland Hockey player Eugene Magee, joined the excitement and celebration.
Many snapped pictures and videos of Tourism NI’s giant #TheOpen letter sculpture made from 4,000 golf balls, as well as Rory McIlroy’s replica Claret Jug from his Open win in 2014 at Royal Liverpool.
