Translink has praised the actions of a bus driver who ushered passengers to safety just before his vehicle caught fire.
The drama unfolded on the Killylea Road, on the outskirts of Armagh, yesterday (Monday) evening.
Twelve firefighters tackled the fire, which broke out shortly before 7pm and created think plumes of smoke which could be seen for miles.
Translink has confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the blaze will be carried out.
Ground Commander Glen Cleland said the vehicle had already been cleared before the fire began.
“I would commend the actions of the driver in getting everyone off board before the fire, which prevented any injuries,” he told BBC NI. “Initially we have no major suspicions over the fire.”
A second bus, which can be seen in our picture, was summoned from Armagh to take passengers on their onward journey.
The bus was gutted in the incident.
