An Armagh man is to contest historical allegations of gross indecency and indecent assault of a male under the age of 16.
Paul Murphy, of Dobbins Grove, entered a plea of not guilty to three counts of indecent assault on a male and three counts of gross indecency with or towards a child at Newry Crown Court on Thursday.
The 55-year-old confirmed his name and address before the charges were read to him.
The defendant stated “not guilty” as each of the offences were recounted to him.
It was heard that all of the offences were alleged to have occurred between October 15, of 1978, and November 15, of the same year.
Prosecution stated that the date identified for trial was November 26 and that it was likely to take a week with the possibility of running into a second.
Defence barrister Conor Coulter told court that Murphy suffered from “learning disabilities and communication difficulties” and thus may require a registered intermediary.
The defendant was released on bail until November 26, when the case will go to trial.
