Four young friends tragically killed in a road traffic collision in Armagh on Sunday morning have all been named.
They were Marina Crilly from Ballymacnab, Emma Mallon from Middletown – both past pupils of St Patrick’s High School in Keady, as well as Phil Mitchell from Markethill and Keith Morrison from Tynan.
They were all aged in their 20s.
The friends had been travelling in a grey Volkswagen Golf, along the Ballynahonemore Road in Armagh city just before 2am on Sunday morning, when it collided with a tree.
Their deaths have sent shockwaves through a community, which has been left reeling at another devastating road collision in our locality.
A friend of the two girls – Marina and Emma – paid tribute: “Girls you leave this world too fast. You both could light up a room with your smile. Thank you for all of the laughter and unforgettable memories from work. I will miss you so very much! Forever in my heart. Rest in peace beautiful girls. God bless your families in this hard and sad time.”
Another friend posted: “R.I.P Marina Crilly & Emma Mallon, yous are beautiful inside and out you will be missed by so many…also thinking of Phil and Keith’s families 🥰💔 awful thing to happen 😢.”
Paying tribute to Phil, one friend wrote: “Devastated, don’t have words for it will miss the phone calls and and the craic, will be a big empty space in August without my best man. Rest easy Phil.”
A close friend of Keith’s added: “Devastated to hear of the passing of my good friend Keith Morrison, you will be badly missed about our place, we had plenty of craic and slagging along the way. Thoughts and prayers with everyone involved at this sad time.”
Funeral details have yet to be released.
Ulster Unionist councillor, Paul Berry, commented: “It has been with utter shock and sadness in the local community following the deaths of four young people at the weekend.
“Our sincere sympathies and prayers go out to the Mitchell, Crilly, Mallon and Morrison families at this devastating time in all of their lives.
“A real numbness fell over the community when word started to come through that four people had lost their lives and as names started to be released it was even more shocking as the families have been known locally.
“It is hard to find the words for such a tragedy as this but the families can be assured that the communities arms of love I wrapped around them all at this time.
“Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the Emergency Services who attended the scene.”
