An Armagh coffee house owner has spoken candidly on how three years of hard work was “crushed” by the coronavirus pandemic.
Scott King and his wife Suzy have worked to establish the Craic’d Pot coffee house in the city over the last few years, with the evening offering their preferred M.O.
But like many businesses, that all changed in March when Covid-19 reached our shores.
Shutters were pulled and an air of optimistic business opportunities were replaced with clouds of doubt – those clouds still remain but for Scott, the rare rays of sunshine are beginning to break through.
“The evening thing was our baby, that was what we modelled our business on,” Scott told Armagh I.
“We were a late night open coffee house – the whole social side of that – coming in and sitting down over coffee and a pastry – was something we have been able to build on quite successfully over the last three years and to have a pandemic to come along and completely crush that, it kind of crushed us in a sense.
