Woman pulled over bread and bagel stands during disturbance in Armagh store

A woman has been handed a conditional discharge for two years after causing a disturbance at a shop in Armagh.

Lisa Crossan (31), of Glenview Court in Belfast, appeared before Armagh Magistrates’ Court – sitting in Newry on Tuesday – charged with disorderly behaviour following an incident at the Spires Retail Park on October 7, 2024.

The court heard that police were called to the retail park shortly after 9pm after receiving reports of a woman causing a disturbance. On arrival, officers located Crossan, who appeared agitated, at the rear of the complex.

CCTV footage reviewed by police showed Crossan kicking the rear bumper of a Toyota Auris – which sustained no damage – before entering the nearby Iceland store. Once inside, she was observed acting aggressively, pulling down a large bread display stand along with a cardboard stand used for bagels.

Crossan then exited the store.

District Judge Anne Marshall, addressing the defendant, said: “I’m going to give you a conditional discharge for two years, because you’re already sentenced, so that won’t affect your release date, and it won’t be hanging over you when you get out of Hydebank. I understand you’re not due for release until September.”

The judge advised Crossan to engage with support services available in Hydebank Wood Secure College during the remainder of her sentence.

“There’s services within the prison in Hydebank,” she added. “I would advise you to work with Hydebank, and then they will hopefully set you up with some support services on your release.”
