Two Co Armagh women have been handed suspended prison sentences for assault and criminal damage linked to the same incident.
Ursula Avery, 22, of Carrigart Cresent in Tullygally, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a window and front door lock along with common assault at Armagh Magistrates’ Court.
Meanwhile, Zoe Flynn, 25, offered pleas with regards to criminal damage to a mobile phone, disorderly behaviour and common assault.
Prosecution outlined that at 11.45pm on June 15, 2019, police assistance was called to report of a number of people causing damage to property at Barrack Street in Armagh.
Officers spoke to a victim who claimed her window had been smashed and that two females had been banging at her door to gain entry.
As police took statements from the victim, the two females, who were identified as the defendants, returned shouting and screaming.
Flynn was warned about her behaviour but continued to shout and swear.
Further allegations were made, with one male claiming his phone had been smashed and another claiming to have been shoved.
Defence barrister Seamus Lannon explained that Flynn had been drinking at a local bar and had accompanied a friend who believed they had property at this address.
He stated that due to their condition they had gone to the wrong address but Flynn had left her phone behind and later returned which led to the incident.
Mr Lannon said that Flynn was “embarrassed” to be before court, adding that she was “trying and achieving” in turning her life around.
Addressing the case of Avery, Mr Lannon stated: “She got caught up in this mistake, a mistake which went too far and she is significantly less culpable.”
Prosecution informed the court that the damaged mobile phone was valued at £240.
Deputy District Judge Philip Mateer sentenced Avery to one month in prison suspended for a period of 18 months and Flynn was handed a four month sentence suspended for the same.
Flynn was also ordered to pay compensation of £240 within 26 weeks.
