Police are hunting two rogue traders who conned a pensioner out of money for work which was never done.
The incident happened at Iveagh Drive in Banbridge on Thursday afternoon.
Two men called at the victim’s home and pressurised their victim into employing them to carry out work at a cost of £600.
They never did any work but still left with £90, having lowered their asking price and not having done anything.
The PSNI have described those responsible as “heartless lowlifes” for preying on the elderly and issued a description as they appealed for information.
“One suspect is described as being of stocky build, 5ft10, fair hair, wearing black tracky bottoms and a grey T-shirt,” said a PSNI spokesperson. “The other was wearing a black tracksuit. Both were in their 20s.
“If you saw anyone matching that description, if they had a vehicle, or maybe have footage of them on a CCTV camera or dash camera, please call us. The incident is 460 of yesterday, 31/08/17.
