Two Banbridge primary schools look set to benefit from additional parking and improved safety measures.
Planning applications have been submitted in relation to Abercorn Primary School, Newry Road and Milltown Primary School, Lurgan Road.
Abercorn Primary School have proposed plans for an extension to their existing car park facilities which would see an additional 20 spaces created on an earmarked 0.18 hectare site, bringing available parking spaces to a total of 50 spaces.
Highlighting the need for the improvements, the application outlines that an average of 55 vehicles visit the premises on a daily basis.
The school have also proposed new LED external lighting alongside a modular block retaining wall in a cobblestone appearance finish and 1,500mm high fence line.
Milltown Primary School, Lenaderg similarly seek permission to extend their parking facilities from a 12 space car park to 19 spaces.
The intention is to improve or expand the drop-off lay-by parking provisions to ease congestion on-site for the some 19 vehicles that are estimated to visit the premises daily.
The primary school have earmarked a 0.25 hectare site for the additional parking and have also sought permission for the provision of pedestrian paths and fences to enhance safety for pedestrians and new external lighting.
Both applications have been submitted in the name of James Irwin of the Education Authority and are both open for consultation.
