Man denies stealing over £3,000 worth of goods in Co Armagh shoplifting blitz

The case was adjourned for two weeks to fix a date for a contest

A man has pleaded not guilty to stealing over £3,000 worth of goods in a shoplifting blitz in Craigavon, Lurgan and Portadown.

Paul Gerard Shields (39), with an address listed as Almond Drive, Dunmurry, but who told Craigavon Magistrates’ Court he now lives in a hostel, is charged in relation to November 4 last year.

He allegedly took £1,300 worth of goods from Lifestyle Sports at Rushmere Shopping Centre; £1,248 worth of goods from O’Neill’s in Craigavon; £455 worth of goods from Sports Direct in Lurgan; and £223 worth of items from Lidl in Portadown.

The case was adjourned to August 29 to fix a date for a contest.
