Two people were taken to hospital following a serious collision in Scarva on Friday afternoon, it has been confirmed.
While initial reports suggested that a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the Auglish Road wasn’t serious the NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) has since confirmed that two people were taken to hospital.
One person was taken to Craigavon while a second was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
A spokesperson for NIAS said: “The NIAS received a 999 call at 2.53pm on Friday, April 10, following reports of an RTC in the Station Road area, Scarva.
“NIAS dispatched two Emergency Ambulances, a Rapid Response Paramedic, and the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board to the scene.
“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one person was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance, and another patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by Air Ambulance.”
The condition of those involved is unknown at this time.
A fire crew was also called to the scene.
A NIFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a van at the junction of Auglish Road and Mullaghglass Road.
“On arrival, all occupants of the vehicles were already out, and crews worked to make the scene safe. The incident was brought under control by 3.39pm.”
Police also attended and closed Auglish Road in both directions at Station Road, with diversions put in place for motorists.
