Community devastated after sad passing of 10-year-old Clady boy John Joe

A community has been left devastated after the loss of 10-year-old John John Toner, who passed away in hospital on Tuesday.

JohnJoe Toner suffered a suspected heart attack while at school in Ballymoyer on Thursday morning.

Alert staff members at St Malachy’s performed CPR before he was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Parents Maria and Cormac Toner said the prayers of so many had given them strength and asked that people continue to pray for their little boy.

But the schoolboy passed away on Tuesday evening.

Fr Murphy and all those in the Parish have expressed their sympathies and heartfelt prayers to John Joe’s parents and the Toner and McParland families.

Support had also been shown with profile pictures being changed on social media to a red woven heart.

In a statement released via social media, Loughgilly Parish said: “The Pray Vigils that have been held will now be the greatest of comfort and support to all John Joe’s family and friends in the coming days.

“May the Holy Family and the Divine Mercy Bless and comfort them in their tragic and sad loss. Prayers will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) in St Malachys Church Ballymoyer from 7pm to support the family all are welcome.”
