Some £4450 has had to be spent by Armagh City and District Council cleaning up graffiti over the past three years.
The information has been revealed in a recent Freedom of Information request to the council.
The response also reveals that a further £1000 has been budgeted for for removal of graffiti during the course of the current financial year.
In response to the time taken for removal of graffiti, the response states: “The removal of graffiti is legislated by The Clean Neighbourhood and Environment (NI) Act 2011 and, where graffiti is ‘detrimental’ to the amenity of any land in its district, it will be removed after seven days, if not already removed by the owner of the land.”
All graffiti removal is carried out in-house by the council through its neighbourhood services staff.
