A judge has deemed an alleged assault by a Craigavon man so serious that she cannot deal with it in the Magistrates’ Court.
Court heard the injured party had been left with a fractured eye socket after the alleged attack on October 14, 2017.
Daniel McConville, of Meadowbrook, did not appear in court on Wednesday as the charge of grievous bodily harm was read out.
It was heard that the 44-year-old was accused of punching and pushing another male to the ground.
District Judge Bernie Kelly refused jurisdiction of the case after reading the medical report, which had been provided by the prosecution.
That report informed the court that the injured party had suffered a fractured eye socket during the alleged assault.
She also surmised that the alleged victim would have been in their late teens as they were a friend of McConville’s daughter.
The case will return of January 2 for a preliminary enquiry, when it is likely to be listed as a Crown Court case.
