Almac’s £40m investment creating 125 new jobs for Craigavon

A major £40million investment by County Armagh pharmaceutical giant Almac will create 125 new jobs for the borough.

The Craigavon-headquartered firm has secured planning approval for the a new manufacturing building.

The application – which Armagh I first revealed in April last year – will see a new 100,000sq ft facility built at its Seagoe Industrial Estate campus.

In November 2021, Almac announced plans to create 1,800 jobs over the next three years, with around 1,000 of the roles planned for Northern Ireland.

A report tabled to planners at Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council suggested the investment would be in the region of £40million.

The report added: “It is projected that the company will grow by and employ an additional 125 staff, which will have demonstrable positive economic benefits for the area.”

Sinn Féin Assembly candidate John O’Dowd has welcomed planning approval for a £40m investment in Almac in Craigavon.

Welcoming the development, Sinn Féin Assembly candidate John O’Dowd, said: “This investment will create 125 new jobs and is part of a wider plan by the pharmaceutical giant to create 1000 jobs in the North.

“This is a huge success story for the company, its workers and a vote of confidence in Craigavon.

“This investment is being protected by the Protocol allowing access to both the British and EU markets for companies like Almac.”
