Borough residents can get FREE timer switches to improve their home security

Darker evenings have put home security even higher up the agenda.

And, to that end, free timer switches are being given out to residents living in the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area.

The clocks changed last weekend and, with night effectively arriving at tea-time, the ABC Policing and Community Safety Partnership is encouraging the public to think about their home safety and to consider using timer switches if they are not home until after dark.

Timer switches can be used to switch lights on and off to make it look like your home is occupied to help deter possible burglaries, but also to ensure you are coming home to a well-lit home.

Timer switches can also be used to turn on radios or audio systems.

To lend a hand the PCSP is giving out a limited number of timer switches to members of the public.

These will be available on Friday, November 18, at Craigavon Civic Centre, between 10am and noon, and 2pm and 4pm.

This will be on a first come first served basis.
