Business owners urged to be vigilant after counterfeit notes circulate in Craigavon

Money

Police are urging business owners to be vigilant following reports of counterfeit money being used in the Craigavon and Lisburn areas this week.

Inspector Rocks said: “We have had a number of reports of counterfeit Clydesdale notes being presented at a number of businesses.

“We’re keen to take this opportunity to ask everyone – including business owners and employees – to be vigilant when handling money.

“It’s important that staff have the right tools and knowledge to be able to detect fake notes.

“Counterfeit notes are damaging for local businesses so please continue to report any incidents to us straightaway.

“Please be vigilant if presented with Clydesdale notes and ensure appropriate checks are made.

“I would urge anyone with any concerns regarding counterfeit notes to contact Police in Lurgan on 101. A report can also be made using the online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport. Alternatively, information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.”
