A Craigavon man has been given three penalty points and a fine after driving a car with a number of malfunctions.
Niall Henry, 23, of Meadowbrook, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday charged with driving a car in a dangerous condition, with two defective tyres, defective windscreen and being unable to have a full view of the road.
Court heard the incident took place on September 26, last year, when police noticed a Seat Toledo crabbing along the road – one side of the car was leaning while it was travelling forward – in North Street, Lurgan.
They also noted that a transparent bag was covering the rear windscreen and the car had two defective tyres.
Henry pleaded guilty to all of the offences at the roadside.
Defence counsel explained that the defendant had bought the car two weeks previously with a full MOT certificate and so believed the car to be roadworthy.
Court also heard that Henry had a limited record with regards to driving offences.
District Judge Bernie Kelly fined the defendant £325 and gave him three penalty points on his licence.
