Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council are re-introducing a charge for independent use of the slipway at South Lake Watersports.
A spokesperson for the Council says this is consistent with operating procedures at other council facilities such as Kinnego Marina.
The charge is not for parking, or pedestrians, but rather for independent use of the slipway at South Lake Watersports for those launching personal watersports equipment (including canoes, kayaks, paddleboards etc).
A Council spokesperson commented: “As a council we are delighted with the fantastic response from the public to our new outdoor facilities at South Lake Leisure Centre.
“With the high volume of users enjoying the activities, it is our top priority to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience when on the lake.
“We thank all our valued users in advance for your continued cooperation.”
The £1 charge for individuals and £5 charge for families (minimum 5 persons), can be paid on arrival in person at South Lake Leisure Centre reception.
The reintroduction of this charge will commence on Saturday, July 10 and includes access to South Lake Watersports’ changing and showering facilities.
