A return to a ‘task and finish’ work day is not on the cards for Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council staff, according to Council’s head of environmental services.
Speaking at December’s monthly meeting of Council, Barry Patience confirmed a task and finish work day, as implemented during the first lockdown for essential service staff, will not be reintroduced.
He was addressing a question from Councillor Darren McNally.
The Sinn Fein representative said he had been contacted by several council employees who had enquired about a return to task and finish given the recently announced restrictions and the increase of COVID-19 in the area.
However, Mr Patience confirmed task and finish is not being considered.
“Task and finish will not be looked at,” said Mr Patience. “We have introduced a staggered start and finish time.
“This is, by far, a safer approach that is much more appropriate and importantly, the unions are content with this as well.”
