Court business shifted from Craigavon to Dungannon after individual tests positive for Covid

Court business will be shifted from Craigavon to Dungannon after an individual, who was working in one of the courtrooms on Monday, tested positive for Covid-19.

A statement from the Department of Justice read: “The Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service and the Office of the Lord Chief Justice have become aware that an individual who was in Craigavon Courthouse yesterday has tested positive for Covid-19.

“In line with the public health advice, we have decided to relocate all business in courtroom three to Dungannon as a precautionary measure to enable cleaning and disinfection, in line with the PHA guidance.

“Contact with staff was limited, as much of the business was being conducted remotely.

“Social distancing measures were also in place yesterday to minimise the risk of infection. Staff are nevertheless being advised in line with the PHA guidance.

“Members of the public who are required to appear in person today in courtroom three should contact Craigavon Court office or go to Dungannon court.”

Meanwhile, there have been further cases of Covid reported in local schools and their wider community in Co. Armagh.

The South Down MLA told Speaking on BBC Northern Ireland’s Inside Politics Q&A webcast, Mr Wells said he believed young people in Northern Ireland have “totally lost the message” when it comes to Covid-19.

He added that younger people “may feel that they’re infallible, they may feel that they will not die from Covid-19, but what are they taking back to elderly relatives who have underlying conditions?”
