A Dungannon man who was detected travelling at 102mph on the M1 has been banned from driving in his absence.
Court heard the 39-year-old disclosed to police that he had also been stopped in July for speeding.
Conner Anthony Hughes, of Donnellys Hill Road, was convicted in his absence of excess speed at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Prosecution outlined that on September 8, at 12.04pm, the defendant was detected driving a Mercedes on the M1 at a speed of 102mph.
When stopped, Hughes was shown his speed and made no reply to caution.
When spoken to, the defendant appeared remorseful and expressed a fear of losing his licence as he had previously been stopped in July for speeding.
District Judge Peter Magill stated: “102mph is a very high speed.”
Hughes was disqualified from driving for six months and was ordered to pay a fine a fine of £150, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 12 weeks.
