A Craigavon man was caught behind the wheel the day after being banned from driving.
Michael Devlin (26), of Clonmeen, came to police attention in the early hours of August 28 last year in Portadown.
A defence barrister said at the time the defendant had been in a “toxic” relationship and “didn’t want to make it worse” so he had not told his then partner he had been banned from driving and that was why he got behind the wheel.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan told the defendant: “I don’t care what the reason was operating in your head but the day after you were disqualified you go and drive again”.
At Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday the defendant was given a four months prison term, suspended for 18 months; and was banned from driving for a year.
