A Craigavon man who admitted assaulting another male whilst “inebriated” has been fined.
The 35-year-old, who represented himself at court, said that he had never been in trouble with the law before.
Daryll Flanagan, of Drumford Meadow, pleaded guilty to common assault at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Court heard that on August 6, the injured party had been in Portadown town centre, when he was struck on the back of the neck by the defendant outside Bennetts bar.
The victim got away walking in the direction of West Street.
But Flanagan would again approach him and punch him in the mouth.
When asked if wished to make any comment, the defendant, stated: “I have never been in trouble with the law before.”
District Judge Bernie Kelly asked Flanagan if he had been intoxicated at the time of the incident.
He replied: “I was inebriated, yes.”
District Judge Kelly responded: “You were as full as a sheugh.”
Flanagan was ordered to pay a fine of £350, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within eight weeks.
