A Craigavon man who made threats to kill two brothers and claimed to be in the IRA has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Court heard the 36-year-old threw a tip jar and a television at the two brothers in a Lurgan kebab shop whilst he was intoxicated.
Philip Michael Wilson, of Ardowen, pleaded guilty to criminal damage, two counts of common assault, two counts of threats to kill and disorderly behaviour at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, where he appeared via videolink from Maghaberry.
It was heard that on June 19, at 11.25, the defendant entered Kylz Kebabs on William Street in Lurgan and was noted to be intoxicated,
He took a tip jar from the counter and threw it at two brothers inside the shop.
Wilson claimed to be in the IRA and made threats to the men before throwing a television at one of the brothers.
When shown CCTV of the incident by police the defendant admitted that it was him.
Defence barrister Damien Halloran stated: “He does tell me that he wants to deal with his alcohol problem and endeavours to contact his GP once he is out of custody.”
District Judge Bernie Kelly said: “The number and nature of these offences are so serious that there is only one penalty I can impose.
“These were committed just one week after you were handed a suspended sentence for not dissimilar offences.”
Wilson was sentenced to three months in prison with a further three being invoked from his suspended sentence.
The defendant was in total handed a six month custodial sentence.
