Fifty new jobs have been created by Home Bargains with the opening of a new superstore in Co Armagh this weekend.
The discount retailer will throw open its doors at the Marlborough Retail Park in Craigavon on Saturday.
The new unit is 20,000 sq ft and represents a major investment in Co Armagh.
At a cost in excess of £1.5 million, the new store joins an already impressive line-up of tenants including M&S, O’Neills, Airtastic, Starbucks and Burger King.
As Armagh I revealed in September, the new Craigavon outlet will be one of the retailer’s largest stores as it will include the full range of goods as well as fresh and frozen produce.
Director of Retail Advisory at CBRE, Alana Coyle, who worked on the Home Bargains deal, said: “The addition of the Home Bargains superstore to the Retail Park is fantastic news.
“We are delighted to have worked with the landlord to bring this significant investment to fruition.
“Discussions are at an advanced stage on the last remaining unit in the first phase of the development at Marlborough Retail Park and we are looking forward to welcoming further new retailers in the period ahead.”
The landlord was jointly represented by CBRE and Cushman Wakefield, whilst Home Bargains were represented by Biggart &Co.
This is the latest outlet by the Liverpool-headquartered retailer in the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area.
It already boasts stores at the nearby Rushmere Shopping Centre, as well as High Street Mall in Portadown, the Bridgewater Retail Park in Banbridge and at Railway Street in Armagh – the replacement tenant after Tesco pulled the plug on plans for a city store.
In August planning approval was granted for a new store in Lurgan after a two-year battle to proceed.
