Fireworks and cannabis found by police during search of man’s home

£450 fine imposed on man who had nothing to say in his defence

A Donaghcloney has been fined after police found cannabis and fireworks in his home.

Court heard that one large rocket and 12 other rockets were found in the 25-year-old’s house.

Christopher Curran, of Main Street, pleaded guilty to possession of fireworks without a licence and possession of a Class B drug at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Court heard that on September 1, at around 9pm, police attended an address in Donaghcloney after reports of a disturbance.

Officers found the defendant in the living room of the property along with a clear bag containing herbal cannabis.

After consent was gained, police conducted a search of the address locating one large rocket and 12 other rockets.

Court heard the amount of cannabis seized was around 6.8g.

Curran, who represented himself in court, stated that he had nothing to say in his defence.

The defendant was ordered to pay a fine of £450, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within four weeks.

District Judge Bernie Kelly also ordered for the destruction of the drugs and fireworks found.
