Fun-filled sports day planned at South Lake for children with ‘limb difference’

South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon

On Friday April 25, the Amputee Rehabilitation Centre is inviting children and young people with limb absence, amputation, or limb difference to a fun-filled Sports and Crafts Day at the South Lake Leisure Centre, Craigavon.

Running from 10am to 3pm, the event promises a vibrant day of inclusive sports, creative activities, and community connection.

This special event, organised by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT), is open to children aged up to 16 and is a fantastic opportunity for them to try out new activities in a friendly, supportive environment. Siblings are also welcome to attend, and parents should remain with their children for the duration of the day.

Children can explore a wide variety of sports and recreational activities including: Golf and GAA, power wheelchair football, volleyball, inclusive cycling and children’s entertainment provided by UpLift and Friendly.

In addition, families can engage with charity stalls hosted by organisations including: Limbless Association, Sailability, Make the Call, Mae Murray Foundation, Reach and Steps.

The event aims to bring families together, promote inclusion, and allow children to discover their abilities while making new friends.

It’s also a great chance for parents and guardians to connect with support networks and resources within the limb difference community.

The event will commence at 10am and will continue to 3pm.

Children should head to the main hall upstairs upon arrival.

To secure a space, families can book by phone on 028 95041747 or email rdsreception.mph@belfasttrust.hscni.net.

With an exciting range of activities and support on offer, the Sports and Crafts Day is set to be an inspiring and memorable occasion for young people living with limb difference and their families.
