Heartbreak as Co Armagh brother and sister pass away just hours apart

A Co Armagh brother and sister, who bravely fought against illness, have passed away within hours of each other.

Alfie and Tanya Herron, from the Craigavon area, died on Sunday and today (Monday) respectively.

Milne Funeral Directors, posting the heartbreaking news on social media, described the pair as “a special brother and sister, who sadly passed away hours apart after courageously battling their illnesses”.

Adding: “A reunion occurred in heaven last night, of the sweetest and most joyful kind.”

A funeral notice for Tanya said she passed away peacefully at her home in Parkmore, after a long battle with illness.

She was the devoted wife of Paul, cherished mum of Joanne, Melanie and Sara-Ann, loving Nanny of Courtney, Poppy-Ray, Alfie, Ollie, Jaxon, Great-Nanny of Beatrice and treasured sister of Gwen, Kenneth, Noel, Samuel and the late Alfie, Tommy and Terry.

Family and friends are welcome to visit from Tuesday morning.

A Funeral service will be held in Tanya’s home on Wednesday at 2pm with committal following in Kernan Cemetery.

A funeral notice for Alfie said he passed peacefully after a short illness in Craigavon Area Hospital, late of Magowan Buildings, Portadown.

Alfred John (Alfie) was the loving fiancé of Michelle, much-loved dad of John, Kyle, Grace, Scott and Mark, a devoted Granda and a treasured brother of Gwen, Kenneth, Noel, Samuel and the late Tanya, Tommy and Terry.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Milne’s Funeral Home on Tuesday 6pm – 8pm.

Funeral service Wednesday at 11am in Milne’s Funeral Home with committal following in Kernan Cemetery.

Posting on social media, Alfie’s son Kyle wrote: “They always stood together looked up 2 each other walked played together you name it so they couldn’t be apart so they left together that was there plan RIP daddy RIP Tanya brother an sister forever use will both be missed deeply.

Tanya’s daughter Melanie wrote: “Always together ❤️ uncle Alfie and mumsie 💔💔 love yous millions 💙”.
