Taghnevan, Lurgan, Glenanne and Dromore play parks have all been officially opened following major capital works in recent months.
While Taghnevan and Glenanne play parks each received a £75,000 refurbishment, Lurgan and Dromore had new parks, costing £250,000 each, installed.
The new Taghnevan park in Craigavon provides so many wonderful play opportunities to all children in the area, up to the age of 14.
You will find an inclusive roundabout, sensory panels, basket swing, harness swing, toddler and flat swings, a junior and senior unit, springer and seat spinner.
“I was absolutely delighted to be invited along to cut the ribbon and declare this brilliant new park officially open!” commented the Lord Mayor.
“I know this particular project has been much anticipated within the community and it is magical to see the children so enthusiastic and loving the variety of new equipment on offer. I know this park will be enjoyed for years to come.”
Taghnevan Play Park
Dromore
Dromore Town Park was officially opened recently following a massive £250,000 investment.
Situated on a beautiful new site, this play park offers a wide range of fun and play for families of children up to 14 years.
It includes an inclusive trampoline and roundabout, a ramped junior unit, sensory panels, tower senior unit, a rope swing, basket swing and spring rocker (suitable for transfer), harness swing, toddler and flat swings and zip line.
The toilet block in Dromore Town Park has also been refurbished and sits beside the new play park.
Local schoolchildren from Dromore Central Primary School were delighted to be invited along to enjoy some time away from the classroom and experience the fabulous new equipment!
Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Kevin Savage, commented: “It is wonderful to see the children so excited and enjoying the new play park in Dromore! This district play park represents one of the largest ever investments that this council has made in fixed play. I am delighted to see it open at this time so that children will be able to enjoy it all summer!”
Parking is available off the Lurgan Road or Dromore Community Centre.
Lurgan Park
Lurgan had great cause for celebration this week with the official opening of the brand new play park within Lurgan Park – and Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Kevin Savage was on hand to cut the ribbon!
With an investment of £250,000, this park is council’s most inclusive park to date and is suitable for all children up to the age of 14.
You will find a wheelchair swing, an inclusive trampoline and roundabout, a ramped junior unit, inclusive train, sensory panels, a sand pit, tower senior unit, a rope swing, basket swing, harness swing, toddler and flat swings.
A range of seating has also been added, so parents and guardians can come along and share in the children’s play experiences.
Children from Kings Park Primary School turned up to help celebrate the special day and enjoy some time away from the classroom in the sunshine!
“What a brilliant morning we all had launching this wonderful Play Park in Lurgan Park and watching the children having the time of their lives!” commented the Lord Mayor.
“The sun was shining, the children were laughing and I am delighted that yet another park has been officially opened in our borough offering accessibility for all children to be able to come down and enjoy playing. Play is such an important part of childhood and we, as a council, are thrilled to support this through our vital Play Strategy.”
Glenanne Play Park Receives £75,000 Refurbishment!
There was plenty of laughter and fun at the official opening of the newly refurbished Glenanne Play Park last week!
A total of £75,000 was invested into the renewal of this play area following a period of consultation with the local community. Catering for children and young people up to the age of 14, this park has a mixture of equipment including a roundabout, sensory panels, basket swing, harness swing, toddler and flat swings, a junior and senior unit, springer and spinning bowl. The original basketball net was also retained.
In celebration of the hard work that enabled this play park to come to fruition, the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Kevin Savage came along to cut the all-important ribbon.
