The driver of a lorry which toppled over an embankment in Aghagallon was fortunate to escape without serious injury this afternoon (Friday).
The lorry tipped over the soft verges of the Whitehall Road around lunchtime but according to Upper Bann SDLP MLA, Dolores Kelly, nobody was hurt in the incident.
“It is believed that the damage has been caused by the significant amount of heavy vehicles that have been using this road over a period of time,” she said.
“We have contacted Roads Service with an urgent request for action on the Whitehall Road and for an official assessment of the safety of the road surface.
“Our rural road network is an important link for the local community and a vital component of the local economy. We cannot allow it to deteriorate into an unsafe condition.”
Motorists are advise to avoid the road at present while a recovery operation continues.
