A major two-storey extension is being planned at the Brownlow Health Centre.
Proposals have been drawn up by the Southern Health Trust and lodged with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
Home to the Lakes Family Practice and based at the Legahory Centre in Craigavon the extension would allow for an increase in capacity across various areas, with an additional 30 staff expected on site daily.
If approved, additional consultation rooms would be constructed, together with clinical support and admin accommodation.
A platform lift would also be installed at the health centre, which lies adjacent to St Anthony’s Primary School.
According to a supporting statement: “It is proposed to extend the north/northwest aspect of the building which will see development within an area of bare ground and amenity grassland at this location.
“The proposal will also entail the demolition of the external façade of the building at this location in order to link to the new building.”
The majority of trees on site would be retained, but it is “likely that one or two” to the northwest would be removed due to the extension of the building at this location.
The application is currently being advertised for public comment.
