A man accused of assaulting four police officers and damaging a cell van belonging to the PSNI will face Crown Court proceedings next month.
The 20-year-old appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Jamie Lee Harvey, of no fixed abode, is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, four counts of assault on police, two counts of resisting police and criminal damage.
As the charges were read, it was heard that all of the offences are alleged to have occurred on March 17, of last year, with the criminal damage relating to a PSNI cell van.
Appearing in court, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence barrister Damian Halloran made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Bernie Kelly, satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer, released Harvey on his own bail of £500 to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on October 15 for arraignment.
Conditions of bail included that he is not to enter licenced premises along with a prohibition on alcohol and non-prescribed drugs.
