A Lawrencetown man accused of causing grievous bodily injury by careless driving is to face Crown Court proceedings later this year.
The 20-year-old appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday for the purposes of a preliminary enquiry (PE), the legal process during which a case is referred to the higher court.
Ciaron Paul Keetley, of Roes Green, is charged with a single count of causing grievous bodily injury by careless driving.
As the charge was read, it was heard that it was alleged to have occurred on September 16, of last year, on the Moyraverty Road, Craigavon.
Appearing via videolink from his solicitor’s office, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence barrister Kevin Magill made no contrary submissions.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer and Keetley was released on continuing bail to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on October 1 for arraignment.
