Man accused of handling stolen posters to face Crown Court

A man accused of handling stolen posters will face Crown Court proceedings in the new year.

The 53-year-old is alleged to have committed the offence on July 11, of last year.

Mark Harbinson, of Sheepwalk Road in Lisburn, appeared charged with handling stolen goods at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday.

As the charges were read, it was heard that on July 11, of 2019, the defendant is alleged to have “dishonestly undertook or assisted in the retention removal disposal or realisation of certain stolen goods, namely posters”.

Appearing in the body of the court, Harbinson made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence barrister Peter Coiley made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Steven Keown said that he was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer.

The defendant was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on January 19 for arraignment.
