A Lurgan man has been fined £350 after being caught with three bags of cannabis when stopped by police.
Daire McConville, of Ashgrove Park, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class B drug at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The court heard that on August 21 police stopped the 28-year-old driving a Mazda car, when they detected a strong smell of cannabis.
The defendant made admissions at the roadside producing three small bags of cannabis, which he stated he had purchased for £60 and was for personal use.
Defence counsel admitted McConville had a relevant record but pointed out his last entry was from 2011.
Court heard the defendant worked as a car body repair man and had a young child.
McConville was ordered to pay a fine of £350, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 10 weeks.
