A man has been fined £400 after admitted being the owneer of cocaine and cannabis found at a Craigavon property.
Court heard that subsequent to his arrest, the 45-year-old made unsolicited comments to police such as “you must have seen the coke in the bowl, that was real proper coke too”.
Jonathan Maguire, of Regent Street in Newtownards, had pleas of guilty entered on his behalf to possession of Class A and possession of Class B at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Prosecution outlined that on December 12, at 10.40am, police were tasked to reports of a suspicious male in the Drumellan Park area of Craigavon.
Upon arrival officers identified the male in question as this defendant. He appeared under the influence with slurred speech.
Maguire had been attempting to gain entry to a nearby property. Police went to investigate if he was living there and found the door to be open.
Inside officers discovered lines of white powder, a syringe and a quantity of suspected herbal cannabis.
The defendant was subsequently arrested. Whilst being conveyed to custody he made unsolicited comments such as “you must have seen the coke in the bowl, that was real proper coke too”.
When interviewed, Maguire made full admissions to the offences before the court.
Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes ordered the defendant to pay a fine of £400, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 26 weeks.
