A man is charged in relation to what a court was told were alleged “gypsy comments”.
Jordan Lee Clarke (32), with an address listed as c/o Maghaberry Prison, is charged with improper use of a communications network.
The allegation is that on June 27 this year he sent a message which was, according to the charge sheet, ‘menacing in character’.
He is on remand in prison and at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday a defence lawyer entered a not guilty plea on the defendant’s behalf.
The lawyer said the defendant accepted sending a “voice note” but does not accept it was motivated “by hostility”.
A prosecutor said their case is that there was “racial hostility in relation to ‘gypsy comments’.”
The case was adjourned to November 20.
