A Craigavon man threatened to damage a bar which he had run jointly with his wife for many years, a court has heard.
The 43-year-old’s legal representative stated that this was a “fleeting threat” and that his client had a “financial interest” in the bar.
Brian Mulholland, of Derryola Bridge Road, pleaded guilty to threats to damage property and breach of a non-molestation order at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Prosecution outlined that on August 18, police were called to a domestic incident on Derryola Bridge Road, Craigavon.
The injured party claimed her ex-partner, the defendant, had threatened to damage her property and did so in breach of a non-molestation order.
Officers located Mulholland at his home address nearby. He was arrested and made no reply to caution.
Defence counsel stated: “This was a fleeting threat. The bar was jointly run by him and his wife for many years and he still has a financial interest in it.
“This is a man with absolutely no record. He also has a non-molestation against the injured party. They are currently going through family court proceedings and this has caused him much stress.”
District Judge Amanda Brady said: “Taking into account that he has no record and has pleaded guilty, I will deal with this by way of a financial penalty.”
Mulholland was ordered to pay a fine of £250, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 15 weeks.
