A Waringstown man who assaulted a male at a Co Armagh bar on Christmas Eve must wait to learn his fate.

The 53-year-old’s solicitor told court: “He does have an extensive record although most of that was in his early days.”

Walter Michael Holding, of Oak Grange, pleaded guilty to common assault and disorderly behaviour in licensed premises at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The offence occurred on Christmas Eve, last year, in Fa’ Joe’s Bar on William Street, Lurgan.

Defence solicitor Shane O’Neill stated: “He does have an extensive record, although most of that was in his early days.

“His last assault was back in’04 and the last assault on police to ’05.”

District Judge Steven Keown said: “We must take his record asĀ  a whole. He has been offered alternatives to custody in the past and I think a presentence report would be of benefit.”

The case was adjourned until December 20 for sentencing.
