A man who made threats to kill a female and damaged a vehicle belonging to another has been given a second chance to engage with probation and avoid a stint in prison.
The deputy district judge told the 31-year-old: “I am giving you one further opportunity for this to be done and it is for your benefit.”
Patrick Joseph Sheppard, of Meadowbrook, Tullygally, pleaded guilty to criminal damage, disorderly behaviour, resisting police and threats to kill at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.
Court previously heard that the offences occurred on September 10 of this year.
The disorderly behaviour was in Bluestone Hall, Craigavon, with damage being caused to a vehicle and a plant pot belonging to a female.
Sheppard also made threats to kill another female.
Speaking on Wednesday, defence barrister Ciara Ennis stated: “There is a letter from probation which indicates that Mr Sheppard did not co-operate, however, he did make contact with my instructing solicitor Mr McMahon as he was not aware of his appointment.”
It was established by Deputy District Judge Gerry Trainor that the address which had been given to probation was no longer that of the defendant.
He commented: “I don’t understand why this glaring mistake was not picked up on. I am giving you one further opportunity for this to be done and it is for your benefit.”
The case was adjourned until January 10 for sentencing.
