A new mini-shopping ‘hub’ could be on the way to Craigavon on the site of the former B&Q store.
A planning application has been submitted to completely refurbish the premises at the Marlborough Retail Park on the Highfield Road.
The proposal – brought forward by Portadown-based JH Turkington – would, if approved, see the extensive premises sub-divided into new individual units.
Four new shop premises would be created, each with their own entrance.
Additional car parking would also be provided to accommodate customers of any future outlets.
Floorspace will actually reduce slightly but the resultant development will still represent four major individual premises, covering a collective area close to 7,700 sq metres.
The planning application has been submitted this week to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
The B&Q store closed earlier this year with the loss of some 50 jobs.
It is hoped that the redevelopment and any future new tenants will bring a fresh jobs boost to the area.
