A Co Tyrone man who drove a motorcycle against the flow of traffic up a cycle lane was convicted in his absence of driving whilst uninsured.
The 27-year-old was handed a fine and a six-month disqualification.
Anthony Pickering, of Rectory Road in Cookstown, faced a charge of using a motor vehicle without insurance at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Court heard the incident dated back to August 22, 2016, when, at around 7.20pm, police saw the defendant riding a motorcycle against the flow of traffic in the cycle lane on Bridge Street, Portadown.
Pickering then turned into Portadown Rugby Club where he was spoken to by officers.
At first, the defendant claimed to have insurance but later admitted he did not.
Pickering was cautioned and offered a fixed penalty, but never produced his licence to police.
The defendant was handed a six-month driving ban and ordered to pay a fine of £400, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
