There have been a further 222 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Department of Health.
That significant jump since Friday means there has been a total of 913 cases in the last seven days alone – with the overall total rising to 9,165.
In the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon borough, a part of which – BT60 – is currently under more stringent localised restrictions, there have been 147 cases in the last week.
Incidentally, the ABC borough has a higher rate of infection – 68.8 per 100,000 people – than any other area in Northern Ireland, including Belfast.
The Department does not report of death statistics over the weekend, which means that total remains at 575.
Presently, there are 21 people in hospital as a result of the coronavirus, with four in Intensive Care Units.
The Southern Health Trust are already undergoing the highest level of a hospital investigation at Craigavon and Daisy Hill Hospitals following several outbreaks and the deaths of nine patients.
A Southern Trust spokesperson said: “The Trust has been following public health infection prevention and control guidance since the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic and would strongly refute any suggestion otherwise.
“The outbreak in Daisy Hill Hospital will be subject to a level 3 Serious Adverse Incident review.”
