There were no serious injuries reported after a horse box collided with the central reservation of the M1 earlier this morning (Monday).
A number of horses managed to escape on to the westbound carriageway, near junction 9 with Moira, shortly after 9am.
Police closed the road in both directions to deal with the incident but the horses were retrieved a short time later, before the road was re-opened again at 10am.
It is understood the horses were transported away in a separate horsebox.
One eye-witness commented: “I saw this happen this morning; poor animals lucky no other vehicles involved.”
