A Craigavon man who was found to be over the legal limit after mounting a kerb while driving a quad has been disqualified for 12 months.
Andrius Liubomirskas, of Lakeview Court, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and using a motor vehicle without insurance or a test certificate at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Court heard that on July 21 at around 6.30pm the defendant was seen driving a quad on Tullygally East Road, Lurgan, before turning onto the Portadown Road and mounting a kerb.
Police stopped the rider and noted that they could smell alcohol on his breath.
Liubomirskas failed a preliminary breath test at the roadside and an evidential reading of 95mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath was taken at Lurgan Custody Suite.
Court was told it later transpired that there was no insurance or MOT in place with regards to the quad.
The defendant who represented himself in court made no comments.
Liubomirskas was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a fine of £575, along with the offender’s levy of £15, within 16 weeks.
